Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is primarily a talk-based therapy that helps people improve their mental health and wellbeing. Psychotherapy happens within a therapeutic relationship between a psychotherapist and a client, where both work together to bring about positive change in the client’s thinking, feeling, behaviour and social functioning.

My personal and professional experiences have guided my journey to becoming a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), as they impact how I help people find meaning and hope in their most challenging times.

I come to this work with an eclectic background, earning an Honours Bachelor of Fine Arts from York University, a Diploma in Massage Therapy, and Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University.

I am a dual-licensed healthcare professional registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) and a bereavement group facilitator with St. Joseph’s Hospice Sarnia. I am also a mother to two school-aged children.

I have worked in the healthcare sector for 16 years, helping people manage chronic pain and recover from injury; these experiences have profoundly influenced my understanding of human suffering and resilience and have informed my therapeutic approach.

I understand how unexpected life challenges and transitions can bring up feelings of anxiety, insecurity, fear, and vulnerability. Sometimes, when life hits hard, we become overwhelmed and lose our identity. I incorporate this knowledge and clinical experience into psychotherapy sessions to support you and help you find hope, meaning, and strength.

I will approach our sessions with compassion, transparency, and an unwavering commitment to your mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. We will work together to set goals and address your concerns in a way that works for you and honours your perspectives and cultural identity.
